Bangladesh Health Watch took an initiative to publish a book titled: ‘Shadhinotar Ponchash Bochhor: Bangladesher Shasthya Khater Bikash’, to celebrate 50 years’ success and progress in the health sector of Bangladesh. The book was published by Prothoma Prokashan.
101 prominent public health experts, researchers, academics, doctors, and journalists from home and abroad have contributed to writing 20 chapters of this book. This book will give an insight to the significant changes that have taken place in the overall health sector over the past five decades, to the success stories, and to our progress compared to our neighbouring countries. The chapters have covered topics like the history and achievements of family planning, reproductive health, non-communicable diseases, nutrition, successful public health programmes, role of NGOs and NRBs, health sector during liberation war etc. This book will inspire and motivate the readers to think about the health sector development in Bangladesh.
A book launching ceremony was held on April 2, 2022 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

It was of immense pride for Bangladesh Health Watch to present the book to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganobhaban on Wednesday, April 26 through Dr Mehraj Jahan Jhora, a patron of Bangladesh Health Watch. The Prime Minister appreciated BHW for publishing this remarkable book and hoped that this book will remain as a useful and historic document.
