Barguna district health rights forum (DHRF) formed

District Health Rights Forum of Barguna districts has been formed with an aim of building a civic movement in the districts to ensure health care services of the marginalised citizen especially the poor women and children.

A formation meeting was held at Pathshala auditorium of Jago Nari on Monday, 13 September, 2021, chaired by Ms. Hosne Ara Hasi, Executive Director of the Host Organisation Jago Nari. In her welcome speech, she expressed her expectation on an active role of DHRF and the youth forum that will work for ensuring equality, accountability and participation in improving the quality of healthcare service in Barguna.

Coordinator (Field Operation) of BHW Mr. Shashank Baran Roy gave a comprehensive overview of the aims and principles of the civil society movement to be led by the forum. He discussed the achievements and challenges in the health sector of Bangladesh as well as Framework and activities of Healthwatch. Representative of BHW Mr. Mohammad Aby Toyab discussed future activities, plan and responsibilities of District Health Rights Forum and Youth for Health.

Mr. Rob Fakir, freedom fighter Sukh Ranjan Shil, Mr. Monir Hossain Kamal, Ms. Soheli Parveen Chhobi, Advocate Moniruzzaman Malek Mithu, Mr. Duke Ibne Amin and Jahangir Mridha talked among others.

A 13-member district health rights forum was formed with prominent media activist Mr. Hasanur Rahman Jhantu as president and ED of Jago Nari Ms. Hosneara Hansi as secretary.
