The multistakeholder meeting held on 3^rd December (Saturday) at 10:00 am in Upazila Parishad conference room of Sharonkhola Upazila, Bagerhat for an exchange of views on improving the quality of service of Upazila Health Complex, SharankholaHealth Service provider, Health Rights Forum’s members from District and Upazila, Health Right Youth Forum members and the representative of different health service-providing institutions and recent service receivers have participated in the meeting.

A unique example of public participation and accountability at the local level in health care service, where the service users raise their voice on the service delivery system.

District Health Rights Forum President Adv. Md. Shah Alam Tuku chaired the meeting and Upazila Nirbhi Officer , Sharonkhola,, Upazila Health and Family Officer, Mukharjee Rabindranath , Assistant President DHRF and secretary of DHRF. The meeting was moderated by Md.Alamgir Hossain Miru, Programme Manager Rupantor, Bagerhat . He has started the meeting with the briefing of the purpose of meeting and responsibilities of Health Right Forums and Health Right Youth Forums.

Asma Akter Field Programme Coordinator, Bangladesh Health Watch has given the welcome speech and thanks to for participating in the meeting and shared the BHW activities 

Some recent service receivers from Community Clinic, Upazila Health Complex Sharonkhola  shared their experience during service reception. Some of them had good feelings and some of them faced ignorance from service providers, they also raised their expectations from service providers.

The Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer described the service delivery system of Upazila Hospital and the human resource gap in the service center. He said that, “ Sharonkhola Upazila is under privileged upazila of Bagerhat District and staff transfer ratio is very high, in this situation we are trying to provide best service to patients. 

Upazila Nirbahi Office were present full time in the meeting. He is very happy to see the DHRF and Upazila Health Right Forum and Health Right Forums. He also said, “Sharonkhola Upazila is an underprivileged Upazila and very near to Sundarban, so climate change effects are very high here. So he thanks to Health Right Youth Forums for their activities and also said that each and every great initiative of changes have been made by youth, so keep doing your activities, we are always with your team, if need any assistance please communicate with us. 

After very fruitful discussion Upazila Health Right Forum president Adv. Md. Shah Alam Tuku expressed his feeling about Health Right Forum activities and his engagement and thanks to Health Right Youth Forum He Thanks to UNO, UHFPO and Officer In charge of Sharonkhola Thana  

 

for their participation and acknowledgement of BHW activities 

At the end of meeting UNO and UH&FP gave some recommendations in the meeting;

• Request to the service provider for keep patience during service delivery 
• Respect to DHRF and UHRF for better coordination to achieving the health service in the community level
• Request to Hospital Authority to maintain the queue for the patient and arrange waiting room for serious sick patient  
• Provide the medicines to the patient properly 
• Special care to the women, children and elderly person during service provide 
• If possible, allocation a waiting room for Pregnant Women 
• Request to authority for ANC and PNC in Community Clinic 

After all the discussions the president gave thanks to all participants for their active participation in the meeting and concluded the meeting.
