The launching programme of Khagrachhari District Health Rights Forum (DHRF) was organized by Zabarang Kalyan Samity and District Health Rights Forum in collaboration with Bangladesh Health Watch at Khagrachhari Hill District Council Conference Room at 4.00 pm on Monday, October 10, 2021.
Honourable Chairman of Khagrachhari Hill District Council Mangsuipru Chowdhury Apu was present as the Chief Guest at the function that was presided over by District Health Rights Forum President Sadhan Kumar Chakma. Member Secretary of Khagrachhari DHRF and Executive Director of Zabarang Mathura Bikash Tripura conveyed his welcome speech at the onset.
Chief Executive Officer of Khagrachhari Hill District Council Bashirul Haque Bhuiyan, Civil Surgeon Dr. Nupur Kanti Das, Executive Officer of Hill District Council Teton Khisa, Deputy Director of District Family Planning Department Mohammad Emran Hossain Chowdhury, Resident Medical Officer Ripple Bappi Chakma were present as special guests on the occasion.
Speaking as the chief guest, Mangsuipru Chowdhury Apu said, "The District Health Rights Forum would play a role in creating an environment conducive to sustainable development in healthcare by ensuring public health rights, public awareness, transparency, accountability and participation at all levels." He urged the Forum to conduct its activities with the participation of all and wish them overall success in their work.'
Ms. Minuching Marma, Vice-President, District Health Rights Forum, Zabarang representative and Healthwatch Focal Person Binodon Tripura, Executive Director of Khagrapur Women's Welfare Association Shefalika Tripura, Executive Director of Trinamool Unnayan Sangstha Ripon Chakma and Coordinator of District Health Rights Youth Forum Rana Hamid also spoke on the occasion.
Rajesh Kumar Adhikari, Program Officer (Networking and Liaison) of the Secretariat of Bangladesh Health Watch, presented the overall information of the health sector of Bangladesh as well as detailed information about Bangladesh Health Watch, District Health Rights Forum, District Health Rights Youth Forum etc. He said that this work was not only of Zabarang, it was also of the civil society of Khagachhari. It is time to realize a new way of thinking to develop the health sector. This social movement will work for the people to achieve equality in safe living and health care. Healthwatch representative Mohammad Abu Toyab also attended the programme.
