Formation and orientation of Mohalchhari Upazila health rights youth forum, Khagrachhari

Upazila Health Rights Youth Forum formation, Mohalchhari, Khagrachhari was held on 09 october, 2021 at 1 no Mohalchhari Union Hall room, Mohalchhari. The meeting was chaired by Aong Pru Marma, Vice President , DHRF, Khagrachhari and attended by Mohalchhari Upazila Vice Chairman Mr Jasim Uddin, Executive Director of Zabarang Mr Mathura Bikash Tripura and youth leaders. Representatives of Bangladesh Health Watch Secretariat Mr. Rajesh Adhikary, Programme Officer (Networking and Liaison) and Mohamamd Abu Toyab, Programme Support Officer also attended the event.

Mr Mathura B Tripura welcomed the participants. He addressed the youth leaders that they can play a very effective role to change the present health situation in Mohalchhari. He also congratulated all the elected youth leaders and wished to having some tremendous youth participations to overcome the challenges.

Rajesh Adhikary, PO, BHW Secretariat welcomed all forum members. He discussed on sections 1,2,3,4 of Article 26 of the Constitution. He gave a comprehensive overview of the main goals and principles of the National Health Policy, achievements, and challenges in the health sector of Bangladesh, Framework, activities, website, and social media pages of Health watch, activities and responsibilities of Upazila Health Youth Rights Forum, Mohalchhari. He said that to build a proper and prospective society youths were the main catalyst. If youths believe in some positive aspects society will be changed.

Special guest Mr Jasim Uddin, Vice chairman of Mohalchhari Upazila thanked Bangladesh Health Watch and Zabarang to select Mohalchhari Upazila for this project. He also uttered that youths should take necessary steps to motivate people to take the health facilities in the upazila Hospital. Youth Leader Korshed said that now they could engage in some humanitarian volunteerism for his own upazila and they are very promising to achieve Heath equity in Maohalchari.

After an extensive review, a 15-member Upazila Youth Health Rights Forum, Mohalchhari was formed comprising one-third women members in the opinion of the members present. Sani Das was elected Coordinator and Binoy Bhushon Shastri was elected joint coordinator. The Programme was moderated by Mr Kayes, Youth secretary of District Health Rights Forum, Khagrachhari.
